Ian Mathers: Rest In Peace

It is with a heavy heart we inform you that previous MRAQ Vice President and committed motorcycle advocate, Ian Mathers passed away on Saturday 26th May at 11:32pm after a relatively short battle with illness.

Ian was an avid motorcyclist who liked nothing more than going for a ride with a close group of friends. He was also amazingly passionate about improving the safety of riders and ensuring the Government was on the right track to achieve this goal.
He devoted almost all of his free time to something motorcycle related either by working with the MRAQ, Ulysses club or arranging one of the many events he played a key role in organising, such as the Toy Run and Ron Power Ride.

Ian’s dry humor and absolute dedication to motorcycling will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Every Queensland rider will certainly be worse off without Ian working on their behalf.

Our most sincere condolences to Ian’s wife Julie, his family and friends. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Ians funeral will be held on Friday June 1 2007. The service will commence at 9.30am at the Church of The Nazarene, Corner of Meadowlands Road and Bethel Street, Carina, Brisbane Qld. Then to the Cleveland Cemetery by 11.30. Gathering afterwards 12 noon at the Cleveland Cultural Centre, Cleveland. Julie has asked for friends/members to come on their motorbikes for one last ride with Ian.
